London Travel and Accommodation

Accommodation

Travel

  • If you do not have an Oyster Card, use a Contactless credit or debit card for tube and bus fares. Single fares from ticket machines are expensive!
  • Note: Buses in London no longer accept cash payment. Only Oyster or contactless payment is accepted.
  • If arriving from outside London, you can buy your national rail ticket including London Underground Zone 1 to get from your arrival station to Kings Cross via tube.

Train

  • Nearest National Rail/Tube Station: Kings Cross/St. Pancras
  • Euston Station is a short bus ride or ~20min walk.

Airports

London City, Heathrow and Gatwick airports are on the TfL Oyster network for connecting trains. Use Oyster or a contactless payment card at the ticket gates.

Luton and Stansted require a separate train ticket.

  • Luton: Buy a ticket to/from Luton Airport (not Luton Airport Parkway) to include the bus connection from Luton Airport Parkway station to Luton Airport.
  • Stansted: Stansted Express offers the fastest way to travel between London Stansted Airport and London. Trains depart every 30 minutes and take 50 minutes to and from London Liverpool Street.

By Car

  • We do not recommend driving in central London!

  • Alternatively, it may be more convenient to stay and park at a hotel further out, but is close to public transport.
  • (e,g, Docklands, Clapham, Vauxhall/Battersea etc.)
